This was my first time judging New York Dance Festival organized for the first time by Eugene Katsevman and Maria Manusova, and what a fist time that was!. Legendary venue, great level of dancing in every category, every division, great music, fabulous gala and what a great show by Eugene and Maria. It was an honor to be part of it, well done guys!! Now to the Amateur Ballroom Championship, 17 couples entered this very contested event.

Ballroom A
In the Ballroom A Scholarship two couples took the floor. Julie Zhao and Denis Kutepov finished first in all dances, 11111; very strong technique and the couple matched perfectly together. Rebecca Kuhn and Andrea Faraci placed second; also, very strong couple. It was a case of quality over quantity.

La Classique Du Quebec hit the 40 year mark this year in Montreal, Canada and it seems like only yesterday we were all lining up in the “on deck” to dance at this incredible and fabulous event that still plays the most incredible music with terrific lighting and a fantastic atmosphere. I know some of you wonder why I refer to the past when talking about “La Classique” as we all call it now with love. I refer to the past because without a strong past there is no future and while most competitions are struggling to create it, “La Classique Du Quebec” has the most history of any event I know and it continues to create history with every year that passes.
